How does your party intend to support first-time home buyers and new Canadians who are struggling to find affordable housing that meets their needs.

Groceries, gas, growing debt, and of course real estate. Everything keeps getting more expensive in Brampton. This is why a Conservative government will live within our means and leave more money in your pocket so first-time home buyers and new Canadians can find affordable housing. A Conservative government will scrap the carbon tax, provide a Universal Tax Cut, implement the Green Tax Credit for Public Transit, the Children's Fitness Tax Credit and the Children's Arts and Learning Tax Credit. In addition, we will increase amortization periods on insured mortgages to 30 years for first-time homebuyers, which will lower monthly payments.

The mortgage stress test is impacting individuals and families in your riding.  What adjustment do you feel should be implemented to address the negative consequences?

When it comes to housing affordability, the Trudeau government is not as advertised. Their heavy-handed mortgage stress test have made it harder for Bramptonians to purchase their first home. Conservatives want to fix the mortgage stress test to ensure that first-time homebuyers aren't unncessarily prevented from accessing mortages. We will work with OSFI to remove the stress test from mortgage renewals to give homeowners more options.

Housing supply continues to be a significant issue in many markets across the country.  What should the federal government do to help with housing supply issue?

The Trudeau government has raised insurance premiums and punished middle class Canadians with new taxes - this has made it harder for many Canadians to realize the dream of home ownership. A Conservative government will work with all levels of government, regardless of political stripes, to knock down regulatory barriers that discourage new home construction so more homes can come on the market to lower prices. In addition, we will make surplus federal real estate available for development to increase the supply of housing. When you work hard, save, and invest in your future, the government should help you – not stand in your way.
